Why do people (I mean so many people)wear masks in Japan?

Lots and lots and lots and loooooots of people in Japan wear masks(マスク). We can understand if those people are sick and if they are trying to prevent the virus from spreading. But then it'll mean that most of the people are sick all the time lol. So far that I know, there are couple of reasons why Japanese people wear masks.

1. Of course when they are sick.

2. To prevent getting the virus from others.( Especially when an important day is coming up. ex. entrance exam, job interview,,,,)

3. To prevent getting hay fever. Especially during March-May.

4. To hide their faces because they don't have make up on, because they simply don't want to show their faces.

There might be more reasons. This article will hopefully be updated if we find out other reasons!
